Western Australia Police have announced that, effective July 30, Australia Post is no longer an approved commercial carrier for firearms and significant components within WA.

This means firearms or parts being sent to, from, or within Western Australia must go by a private courier on WAPOL’s Approved Commercial Carriers list.

The Approved Commercial Carrier requirement is not new and it is understood most dealers in WA have arrangements with other transport companies on the list, so the impact of Australia Post’s removal from the list is thought to be relatively minor – even although it is still another example of WAPOL making things difficult for law-abiding firearms users for no reason.
