I write with deep concern as to the issue of firearms categorisation including that of lever action shotguns. Firearms laws should be made on logic and evidence, not with scaremongering and blatant untruths that we have seen from politicians and the media of late. One of the recommendations from the Lindt Cafe siege was to simplify firearms regulations, what has been advocated is the exact opposite, recategorising perfectly legal firearms that are only owned by licensed, law abiding people will have zero effect on crime. This also shows that people affecting legislation have no idea about firearm function or even the current laws. This issue will affect how I and others I know vote in upcoming elections, if you support further pointless restrictions, you will not have our support.
