The clearly troublesome (and expensive, at $35m+) WA Firearms Portal has suffered a data breach, reportedly involving people with expired club executive authorisations still being able to access information relating to the shooting’s clubs firearms and storage locations.
While we understand no individual licensing data has been compromised, the fact remains that this is yet another serious issue in a string of serious issues stemming from legislation that should never have been passed in the first place.
We join with Nationals WA Leader Shane Love in calling for the WA Police Minister Reece Whitby to halt implementation of the Act, given the many issues it has raised.
