We’ve had recent reports of NSW shooters running into issues after using a healthcare or DVA card to get a discount on their licence application or renewal fees. These issues have included the applicant needing to supply medical reports regarding their suitability to hold a firearms licence, based on nothing more than the fact they are a healthcare card or DVA card holder.
Our advice is, and has long been: DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, APPLY FOR A NSW LICENCE FEE CONCESSION WITH A HEALTHCARE OR DVA CARD. The headaches are not worth the few dollars you will save.
