As part of its ongoing war on shooters, the WA Government has announced limits on the number of shooter authorisations any given property can issue at a given time, with properties over 15,000 acres being capped at 15 and smaller properties having progressively smaller numbers – properties up to 1,500 acres can support five property letters, while those up to 5,000 acres can support seven letters.

There is absolutely no doubt this will be devastating for hunting and recreational shooting in WA, especially given that most of the population (and by extension, shooters) are located in the south-west region (including Greater Perth), and there clearly aren’t anything like enough property letters available under the new limits for all the hunters in the area.

Shooters Union’s WA state advocate continues to work at getting a seat at the table representing shooters in WA, but faces an uphill battle due to the political climate in the state.
