WA’s Firearms Act 2024 has received the Royal Assent from State Governor Chris Dawson, with parts of it now in effect and the remainder expected to be in operation by March 2025.

At this stage the Regulations which will govern how the laws will actually function have not been made available to either shooting organisations or the public, but WAPOL are already enforcing the firearm quantity limits for new applications to add firearms to an existing licence.

There is essentially nothing we can do about these new laws – the WA Government has made it very clear they do not care what anyone else thinks, the major media outlet in Western Australian supports the new laws, and the Western Australian Firearms Community Alliance – who purport to be the peak body representing gun owners in WA – have not accepted our offers of assistance.
