WA’s famously anti-gun ALP Government has announced a plan to introduce mandatory mental health checks for all firearms licence applicants, both at application and regularly throughout the licensing period.

We can’t even begin to list all the reasons this is a terrible idea, and our national executive and WA representative have already started working on ways to fight this. 

We also note that even non-shooters are pointing out the issues with the plan, noting mental health services are already collapsing under the sheer weight of people needing help as it is, without adding all 89,000 gun licence holders in the state to the list as well.
