On a related note, following productive conversations with South Australia Police, we have been advised they will consider “unable to obtain ammunition or reloading components” as an acceptable reason for not completing handgun participation requirements on a case by case basis.

While we’d love to see an end to handgun participation requirements full stop (especially as COVID proved they have no public safety benefit), we are thankful SAPOL are being so reasonable, fair and understanding on this issue and will be having similar conversations with the other state Firearms Registries as well.
