The Commonwealth Government has been receiving submissions into its proposed Counter Terrorism Legislation Amendment (Prohibited Hate Symbols and Other Measures) Act 2023 legislation, which would ban the sale or display of (among other things) Nazi symbols such as the swastika and SS “lightning bolt” runes.

Shooters Union Queensland Collector’s Branch put together a lengthy submission saying that while neither they (nor us!) support, condone or glorify Nazism, the legislation as written would make it illegal to own or sell WWII firearms with Nazi ownership markings, and would also make it illegal for legitimate collectors and dealers to own or sell a lot of WWII German militaria (including ammunition pouches, bayonets, uniforms and so on).
