Shooters Union South Australia has spoken out against the state’s Feral Deer management program, saying hunters and volunteer pest controllers had been shut out of discussions on how to manage the issue.

SU South Australia president Peter Heggie said it cost about $75,000 to get two professional shooters in the air with a helicopter for a day, which was money that was badly needed for social services and infrastructure in the state, and that the state’s licensed shooters would be very happy to fill their freezers with venison at no cost to the government.

We’ve asked the SA Government to talk to us about the issue and will let you know if they take us up on the invitation.
