The latest report from Victoria’s Game Management Authority (GMA)’s 2023 report shows there are nearly 60,000 people in the state (59,682 to be precise) with a hunting licence, up considerably from a decade ago.

The majority of those licences (48,038) are to hunt deer, with 22,193 licences to hunt ducks also being on issue.

While most hunters in Victoria are men (96%), there are a significant number of women
