Following extensive work by shooting representatives including SIFA, NT Field & Game, Coolalinga Guns & Ammo, and former senator Nigel Scullion, the NT Police Commissioner has confirmed he will issue an exemption to the Territory’s firearms legislation allowing interstate licence holders to purchase ammunition while in the NT for hunting or competition shooting events.
Adding to the positive outcome, it has been confirmed the intention is to change the legislation to permanently recognise interstate licence holders, removing the need for a Commissioner’s Exemption in the first place.
