The proposed secure storage requirements for gun owners in WA have been released, and are going to be difficult, if not impossible, for many shooters to comply with.
Rifle and shotgun owners will eventually have to buy safes with 3mm sides and 6mm doors, while pistol owners will need to buy safes with 6mm sides and 10mm doors as soon as the Regulations are announced.
There are extremely few safes available “off the shelf” in Australia which meet the pistol storage requirements, but so far there is no additional information on how these new requirements will be implemented, what consultation was done regarding them (we certainly weren’t asked), or what evidence is being used to support them.
