Shooters Union Queensland representatives, alongside representatives from the Firearms Dealers Association of Queensland (FDAQ) met with three Ministers from the new Queensland LNP Government earlier this month.

As part of the meeting with Agriculture Minister Tony Perrett, Police Minister Dan Purdie and Customer Services Minister Steve Minikin, intended to reset the relationship between the responsible firearms using community and the Government, we presented a comprehensive, but not exhaustive document with almost 100 issues that the new LNP government can immediately tackle.

This document covered a range of issues including slow WLB processing times, attitudes to primary producers, and opaque policies.

We’d like to thank Ministers for their time, as well as the positive reception we received during the meeting. We are confident that after almost a decade of assaults on responsible and law abiding firearm owners, the tide is beginning to change.

We stand strong, and stand ready to work with the LNP Government to drive real change for shooters – and look forward to having positive news to share with our members in the near future.
