This year’s Victorian duck hunting season is the shortest on record, running from April 26 until May 30, with a bag limit of four ducks per hunter, per day.

The Victorian Government is clearly ignoring the science regarding duck numbers and sustainable harvests in favour of political point scoring.

Things are much more reasonable in South Australia, with their duck season running from March 18 to June 25 with a bag limit of eight ducks per hunter per day, while Tasmania’s season is also running from March 11 to June 12 with a 10 duck per hunter per day bag limit.

If you are heading to Victoria, South Australia or Tasmania to hunt ducks, make sure you have the appropriate game licences and that you are using non-toxic shot – it is illegal to use lead shot for hunting wildfowl in those states.
